    About This Event

Providence-based indie-folk artist Bernard John is releasing his new album, Acres and celebrating his 40th birthday with a full band performance, special guests, and sets from local artists American Echoes, John Faraone, and Brian McKenzie. Bio: Direct and sincere, Bernard John’s voice and lyrics fill a room with unflinching honesty. If melancholy is the foundation, hope is never far behind. In 2013, Bernard returned from a run of shows from Portland, Maine to Nashville, Tennessee and began suffering from an unexplained chronic health condition that left him nearly bedridden for months. With sound and light triggering debilitating symptoms, he was forced to step away from music and focus on his health. After taking time to recover and reflect, Bernard returned to his home state of Rhode Island and began recording with close friend and producer Bruce Pierce. Now, after more than a decade after releasing his last record, he returns with Acres. Bernard John has opened for Steve Earle, Langhorne Slim, Joe Pug, and Joan Osborne, and has also performed on the side stage for John Prine and Lucinda Williams.
