The Columbus Theatre has been completely restored and reborn as the Uptown Theater — a 1926 historical theater in the heart of Providence, meticulously revived with modern amenities while preserving its historic charm. From live music and stand-up comedy to films, speakers, and special events, Uptown offers unforgettable experiences in a beautifully reimagined space built for today's audiences.
Security
- Walk-through metal detectors are used at all performances. Please plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to showtime.
- Backpacks, large bags, firearms, and weapons of any kind are not allowed in the theater.
- All bags will be searched. Bags that pass inspection must fit comfortably under a theatre seat.
- There is no secure storage area and confiscated items cannot be returned.
Food & Beverage
Uptown Theater has two brand new bars serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as a selection of snacks and candy.
Most seating on the first level have cupholders available. The balcony seats are restored original seating from 1926 and do not have cupholders.
Uptown is a cashless venue.
Venue Entry
Tickets are sent by email and can be scanned from your phone directly. You can also add them to Apple Wallet. If you prefer, you can also print the tickets.

Ticket Protection
Ticket Protection is an option that allows you to receive a credit for future use on all of the tickets in your order. Ticket Protection can ONLY be purchased at the time you buy your tickets.

Accessibility
The first floor of the main theater has wheelchair spaces, companion seats and semi-ambulatory seating available for purchase. The first floor restrooms are both accessible.
There is no elevator. The second floor lobby and balcony are not accessible.
