October belongs to the horror fans. Every Monday this October, Upstairs @ Uptown becomes a screening room. Big picture, big sound, full bar, and a room built for people who actually want to watch a movie with other people instead of alone on a couch. This is the newly finished room above the Uptown Theater on Broadway. Comfortable, intimate, and just the right amount of unsettling once the lights go down. Four Mondays. If you only see one movie this month, make it this one. Monday, October 19: Tucker & Dale vs Evil Two good-hearted hillbillies. A group of college kids who assume the worst. A pile of misunderstandings and a rising body count. The funniest horror movie of the last twenty years and a great one to watch in a packed room. Monday, October 26: Halloween (1978) The blueprint.
